Okay, I missed February. But at least it's still March! I am posting!

My son turned 7 months old a few days ago, and he is my bestest tiny friend. (Though, seeing as he's pretty much tripled in size since birth, he's not so tiny anymore!) I call him Hobbityllama, which is not his real name, but that's what I'm probably going to call him here, as well. He has a pair of custom knit pants that have the One Ring stitched on the front of one leg, and HOBBIT stitched across the rear end, and today he wore those with a onesie from Etsy that says "Back to the Shire" in the style of the Back to the Future logo. That should tell you pretty much all you need to know about what kind of parents my husband and I are.

Tonight, Hobbityllama and I played a game I invented called Hat or No Hat? in which I'd put a knit hat (with cat ears!) on one of us--HAT! And then I'd whip it off--NO HAT! It was pretty funny just playing together, but when I showed him his reflection both HATTED and HATLESS in the mirror, that's when it became hilarious.

He laughs a lot. His toes (referred to collectively as The Pigs, who go to sleep when his socks are on and wake up when they're off) are also hilarious, and good for grabbing. He learned to stick his finger up his nose over the weekend, and I'm not sure whether to be proud or not.

In other news, it snowed today, which is just ridiculously unfair since it was 60 degrees earlier this month. But this really was a gorgeous snow, all wet and fluffy, and it made the wooded hill on my parents' farm look like Narnia, this evening. I was half-tempted to go walking in the trees and see if I'd come out a wardrobe on the other side.

I'm dying of anticipation waiting for A Dance With Dragons to come out, and trying to hurry and finish my own novel in progress (the working title has changed from FAIRYTALE to FAIR MOON) so that I can re-read the first four ASoIaF books before July. In the meantime, I'm just as excited for the TV show of A Game of Thrones to start! OMG, I can't wait. TYRION AND JON SNOW. (And everyone else! But those two are my very favorites.)

Also, I can't wait for spring to really arrive here in the Northlands. I'm ready for flowers!

New year, (sorta) new journal!

Doing a bit of a reboot on my blog. All old entries have gone the way of the dodo in order to give this LJ a fresh start for 2011.

Noteworthy news and answers to some recent questions:
1. The sequel to Northlander, titled The King Commands, was published in April 2010 and is available for purchase on Amazon!
2. After taking a hiatus from writing, I'm nearing the finish line on my WIP, tentatively titled FAIRYTALE, and hope to begin the agent querying process in April or May.
3. The reason I took time off from writing is a big one. I became a mom in 2010! My husband and I couldn't be happier, and our son is the biggest gift I've ever been given.
4. Due to the above, I'm no longer writing for the Stargate Atlantis: Legacy series.
5. I'm now on Twitter! I'm @megburden if anyone would like to follow me.

In short, life is wonderful, I'm happier than I've ever been before, and I'm excited to be blogging here again! My 2011 resolution is to write at least one entry here a month, more if possible. Expect lots of talk about my new novel (and maybe some teasers/excerpts!), the querying/agent search process, and, of course, the occasional squee about how great my baby is. Because he totally is. ♥

How is 2011 treating all of you so far?
